Friday 1st December
Liam Sanderson and The Films of Wales High School (Sheffiel
An insight into a South Yorkshire school and it's unique reputation for producing professional quality films. Our Friday evening talk this year is by Liam Sanderson who is the Technical Tutor for the Film and Media Studies A-level qualifications. He will present a selection of award-winning films that have been screened at film festivals around the world. The talk will be split in to two parts; films made with the help of his students, working in front and behind the camera, and films produced individually by his students. The Schools latest production 'Exploding Hearts' received a Diamond award at this year's BIAFF film festival and is an excellent production. Those of you who attended the 20th GNF and saw the presentation of films from the IAC Archive, may remember another of their films 'War of Words' about a Scrabble match between two girls, this won the Best Under 16 Film. This should be a very interesting and entertaining evening and one not to be missed.

The Howard Gregory Trophy
This trophy in memory of Howard is awarded for ‘The Most Creative Soundtrack’
All entries in both the Great Northern and the New Horizons competitions will be eligible for this award.
The Judges will be looking for the best use of all the elements that have been blended together creatively to produce a soundtrack that compliments and enhances the Sequence.
Unfortunately we will not be able to post out this trophy, so, although you can still win it, you will have to attend to be able to receive it. In addition it will only be held for 12 months and must be returned in time for the following year’s competitions. |
